USAW Level 1 OlympicWeightlifting Certification
I have been doing Crossfit for over 6 years and the one thing that I learned along the way is trusting and enjoying the process. My start in working out (in general) was for weight loss only. I came upon a Functional Fitness class at a Globo gym and became completely hooked. I started looking up Crossfit on YouTube and started doing “The Girls” and other notable Crossfit workouts in my home garage. I heard about the Open through the Globo gym and going to a local affiliate to compete. Once in the affiliate, I was sold and started going to a Crossfit affiliate full time. It became a habit that changed me physically and mentally. As I have developed throughout the years I learned that the process of training day in and out is where you are able to develop those weaknesses. Within this process, I also found my other love, Olympic Weightlifting. I got my certification in Olympic Weightlifting first and coached athletes through a meet for the first time. At that point as a coach, I knew this was what I enjoyed. I think that getting my Crossfit Level 1 was just natural because I loved the community and wanted to develop more as a coach.
My turning point in my life was when I started to see and feel my weight loss. This was an accomplishment and sort of a struggle because at this point I was defining what was important to me. I had to make sacrifices for the goals I was trying to accomplish (I.e. giving up drinking with friends or old eating habits). Though through this process I gained a community in CrossFit and people that were willing to support me.
I want athletes to see their progress and help them smash goals. I want an athlete to know that I am there to support them in meeting their goals just like the Community has done for me.
